Jul 17, 2012 - my WD Passport is not working. When I connected it to the USB Drive on MAC it showed up and now it is gone. I never got to open my files on it.
Note: | Some third-party data cables may be able to transfer enough power to the drive. This includes 'reel' cables and extension cables even if the total length is less than 18 inches. Whenever possible WD recommends using the USB or FireWire cable that came with the My Passport drive. |

Until about a week ago my external hard drive was working normally. Then it all of a sudden stopped working unprompted by anything, I have not dropped or damaged it in any way. However when it's plugged in it doesn't show up on my desktop. I had a much more tech savvy friend look through my computer library, etc and it's not listed anywhere. When plugged into the computer it lights up and blinks and you can feel it running but the way it blinks looks as if its being ejected instead of just plugged in. The only change has been updating my MacBook that same day but I've tried it on 3 other computers (both old and new) and it doesn't show up either.
Is there anything that can be done, or am I just out of luck?
